Tröegs Independent Brewing of Hershey, well known for beers like the year-round Perpetual IPA and the holiday seasonal beer, Mad Elf Ale, was voted by USA TODAY readers as the No. 1 brewery tour in the country.

The one-hour tour of Tröegs takes visitors on a behind-the-scenes look at the mill room, hop cooler, brewhouse deck, fermentation cellars and packaging lines. This is the sixth consecutive year Tröegs has been honored by USA Today for their tour.

“Back in the early days, my brother Chris and I used to give brewery tours every Saturday,” Tröegs brewmaster and co-founding brother John Trogner said. “Our tour program has greatly evolved, but the one constant has been a passion for sharing our craft with guests and giving them a peak behind the curtain of Tröegs.”

Tröegs Independent Brewing is located at 200 E. Hersheypark Drive, Hershey. Tours of Tröegs Brewery can be booked online at troegs.com.

A panel of beer experts were asked to nominate their top brewery tour across the country, then USA TODAY readers voted for their favorites.

“It’s incredibly humbling to receive this award for the sixth time,” director of marketing David Graham said. “Our guides do a great job of not only explaining the process of what we do and how, but giving guests the ‘why’ behind the way we do them.”

Among the top 10, the only other brewery tour in the Northeast was Allagash Brewing Company in Portland, Maine which took 6th place.
