Several events are planned in York County to honor civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday, will be held on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026.

Crispus Attucks York to host Martin Luther King Day of Service

Crispus Attucks of York will host its 44th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Monday, Jan. 19, according to the organization’s website.

The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Crispus Attucks of York, 605 S. Duke St.

“This year’s theme, ‘Give Rise to Possible,’ celebrates the power of service, education, and collective action to continue Dr. King’s vision of justice and equality,” the website states.

It will include a breakfast, a ceremony, entertainment, the Michael D. Jefferson Living the Dream Awards, and community service projects.

The award recipients this year are: Willie Green, Dr. Sakeenah Sweeney, James Way II and Tonya Hall, according to a Facebook post.

‘I Have a Dream Conference’ in York

The fourth annual “I Have a Dream Conference” will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at Logos Academy, 250 W. King St. in York, according to The Advantage Program’s website.

The Advantage Program, which mentors middle and high school students, is hosting the event. It is sponsored by WellSpan Health.

The conference will feature motivational speakers, panel discussions, and community engagement activities.

Jazz Vespers Concert 2026

First Presbyterian Church of York will host its annual Jazz Vespers concert to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., according to its Facebook page.

It will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at the church, 225 E. Market St. in York.

Performers will include Jeff Stabley, Tim Warfield, Chris Bacas and others.

YWCA Hanover to host MLK Day of Service for teens

The YWCA Hanover is hosting a workshop for students in sixth through twelfth grades on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The workshop will be held from 8:45 a.m. to noon and will include a guest speaker, an activity, and service projects, according to the organization’s website.
