With National Coffee Day coming up on Monday, it’s a good time to talk about the coffee scene in the commonwealth.
Pennsylvania has a fantastic coffee scene, with local roasters throughout the state keeping community members caffeinated. In our newsletter, we asked readers to tell us about their favorite local coffee shops. You can check out the replies here.
People outside the state are also taking note of Pennsylvania’s coffee scene. In WalletHub’s recent ranking of the 100 best coffee cities in America, Pittsburgh came in at 10th, while Philadelphia placed 24th. Roasters in our smaller cities are getting noticed as well. Food & Wine highlighted Lancaster’s Passenger Coffee as the best in the state.
Erie is another Pa. city that’s small but mighty when it comes to coffee, especially its community of woman-owned shops and roasters. Our food and travel writer Kalena Thomhave has the lowdown on seven Erie coffee shops that are owned by women. We’ve also got the story on three of Scranton’s favorite coffee shops in this story.
