Wallenpaupack Brewing Company nets three medals at Great American Beer Festival

Wallenpaupack Brewing Company outside of Hawley came away with three medals at the Great American Beer Festival held Oct. 9 to 11 in Denver, Colorado.

It received bronze medals for Cracking Weisse and Cracking Weisse with raspberry, and a silver medal for Kroon.

Cracking Weisse is a German sour ale. Add raspberry and it is a specialty Berliner-style Weisse. Kroon is a Belgian-style strong specialty ale.

Wallenpaupack Brewing Company was one of only four breweries in Pennsylvania to earn medals. The others, with one bronze medal each, were one in Allentown and two in Pittsburgh.

According to the festival’s press release, a total of 273 breweries and cideries took home 347 medals from the 2025 Great American Beer Festival competition. There were 250 expert judges evaluating 8,315 beer and cider entries from breweries in every state and Washington, D.C.

Wallenpaupack Brewing Company is described on its Facebook page as a “full production, award-winning craft brewery.” They feature a 14,000-square-foot brewpub, beer garden and restaurant, located on Route 6 between Hawley and Lake Wallenpaupack, at 73 Welwood Ave., Hawley. The business was opened in 2017 by Rebecca Ryman. A second taproom, The Wake Zone, is located in nearby Tafton.
