Police in Nesquahoning are looking for four individuals who were seen on surveillance video removing a Ronald McDonald statue from a McDonald’s restaurant on Sunday, July 6.

Maybe the good people of Nesquahoning are lacking things to do. What else would compel four individuals to steal a lifesize plastic Ronald McDonald statue from the fast food restaurant in broad daylight, an incident local police are calling both a McNapping and a McFelony?

Authorities said the theft happened last Sunday, July 6 around 1 p.m. when staff were busy in the kitchen during a lunch rush. Surveillance video shows four people running through the parking lot, horsing (ok, clowning) around with the Ronald McDonald statue, and then placing it in a black SUV.

Eve Snyder, who is the general manager of the Nesquahoning McDonald’s, told WNEP that she’s genuinely mad about the incident, especially considering the Ronald McDonald statues aren’t even made anymore.

“It’s a privately owned franchise,” she told WNEP. “This is the owner’s first store that he ever had so everything in here has a lot of sentimental value to him and he would like to have that back.”

As for leads, police said they’ve received several messages and phone calls about a Ronald McDonald statue currently listed on eBay that closely resembles the one stolen from the Nesquahining McDonald’s. The story has gone viral, so, presumably, people are on the lookout for the missing statue.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, and we encourage anyone with information about the missing Ronald’s whereabouts to contact them at 570-669-9111.
