‘Tis the season, and if you want to spend it somewhere where holiday spirits are high, look no further than Pittsburgh.

The Steel City ranked second for Best Cities for Christmas in 2024, according to WalletHub. Only Atlanta is considered more festive. Philadelphia also made the list, at 58. Bah humbug.

To find the most festive and affordable spots for Christmas celebrations, WalletHub compared the 100 biggest cities in the U.S. based on 28 key indicators such as traditions, shopping, and costs.

Pittsburgh came in second because it’s a great place for getting treats and presents. It is among the top cities when it comes to the number of candy stores and chocolatiers per capita, and it has the third-lowest average price for a bottle of wine, according to WalletHub. Plus, it has a large selection of card shops, toy stores, and hobby shops per capita.

Pennsylvania’s second largest city is also fairly religious. It has the fifth most churches per capita (among the 100 biggest cities), so it’s easy to find a place to attend Christmas Eve or Christmas Day services.

Finally, if you want a fun winter activity to do with the family, Pittsburgh has the fifth-most ice skating rinks per capita!
