When Littlestown’s Aubrey Nicole first landed her blind audition on NBC’s hit singing competition “The Voice,” she was overjoyed to simply perform in front of the star-studded judges.
Now, the smalltown native with a big voice really might just win it all.
On Monday night, Nicole, 20, performed a showstopping rendition of “Black Velvet” by Alannah Myles as Nicole sought one of just six spots in the show’s two-episode live finale.
By this point in the competition, the “Playoffs” round, dozens of contestants were already narrowed down to just four per coach – 16 in total.
The stakes were huge: each coach can only chose a single contestant to move on to the live finale, with two additional spots chosen by viewers.
Nicole, on the team of country music superstar Reba McEntire, was in competition with her teammates, Aaron Nichols, Ryan Mitchell and Peyton Kyle.
On Monday night, however, McIntere’s choice was none other than Nicole, sending the Littlestown native through to the show’s live finale as one of just six contestants.
In a post on her official accounts on Monday evening, Nicole said she “couldn’t be more shocked, grateful, and humbled” by the opportunity, giving thanks to her faith amid the journey.
Previously, during the “knockouts” round that aired on Tuesday night, Oct. 27, Nicole brought her coach to tears with a powerful performance of “I’m Gonna Love you Through it.”
The performance gained national attention around entertainment news, as Nicole highlighted her father’s fight with cancer and connected with the legendary artist.
Nicole was originally selected to be on the team of McEntire during the sixth round of blind auditions on the show, which aired on Oct. 7.
After graduating from Delone Catholic High School in 2023, Nicole is currently a junior at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.
Nicole will return to perform during the two-night live finale, airing at 9 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15 and Tuesday, Dec. 16, on NBC, as well as streaming on NBC’s Peacock streaming service.
