John Oliver’s Erie Moon Mammoths jersey on display at National Baseball Hall of Fame

If Erie SeaWolves fans go to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York, they can relive the memory of the first ever Moon Mammoths game.

John Oliver, host of HBO’s "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver," throws out the first pitch during the first of four promotional baseball games in Erie on July 19, 2025. The Erie SeaWolves, a Double-A Minor League Baseball team affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, are temporarily rebranding as the Erie Moon Mammoths for four games this year as part of a promotional collaboration with HBO’s "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver."

If Erie SeaWolves fans go to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York, they can relive the memory of the first ever Moon Mammoths game.

John Olver, host of “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” and creator of the Erie Moon Mammoths promotion, donated his game-worn Moon Mammoths jersey to the National Baseball Hall of Fame at 25 Main St. in Cooperstown, New York, on Oct. 4.

This display gives fans the chance to relive the memories from the sold-out inaugural Moon Mammoths game on July 19. During the game, Oliver acted out as many roles as he could, from throwing out the first pitch, to serving hotdogs, to singing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” and more.

Next to Oliver’s jersey, a placard reads, “On July 19, 2025, the Double-A Erie SeaWolves debuted as the Moon Mammoths. The unusual nickname came about thanks to John Oliver, who chose the club as the winner of a rebranding contest he announced on his HBO show, ‘Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.’ The comedian wore this jersey as he threw the first pitch to honor the club’s alter ego.”

Where can I find John Oliver’s jersey at the National Baseball Hall of Fame?

Oliver’s jersey at the National Baseball Hall of Fame can be found on the second floor in the same exhibit as the 2025 Futures Game baseball and the All-Star Futures lineup card.
