Pennsylvania is a big state with rural stretches where culinary tastes can vary significantly from those in more populous areas. Look no further than the Taste of the Wild Outdoors dinner in Pine Grove, Schuylkill County—which featured wild game meat from 14 species in dishes like bear stew, raccoon andouille, rabbit kielbasa, squirrel salsa, and bobcat lo mein—for proof.
If you regularly consume wild game meat, or are just wild game-curious, you should know that Punxsutawney-based Stello Foods has collaborated with the PA Wilds Center for Entrepreneurship for a line of Pennsylvania Wilds-themed pasta sauces.
The meat-flavored sauces consist of wild boar, venison, and elk meat (don’t worry, this local legend was spared), and are available online through Stello Foods, with a portion of the proceeds going towards the PA Wilds mission and programs.
The PA Wilds is the 13-county region in the north-central part of the state featuring attractions like Pine Creek Gorge (aka the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon), Cherry Springs State Park, and Cook Forest State Park, where visitors can experience stunning views, wildlife, scenic waterways, and more.
Stello Foods is a family business located in downtown Punxsutawney that began in 1990 as a college project. Today, its sauces, pastas, spreads, dressings, marinades, and condiments are sold in stores across western Pennsylvania.
