In Erie, the need for reliable access to free groceries has grown steadily over the past few years, and especially over the last month or so, with the threat of SNAP benefits being delayed and possibly cut. This network of food pantries across the city has become an essential support system for locals who are facing tough times. These free boxes, supplied by caring people across the community, are where people can count on getting fresh produce, pantry staples, and even some toiletries and personal supplies.

As a community, it’s important that we don’t judge, because you never know someone’s situation. Some are navigating temporary setbacks; others have been quietly fighting the same uphill climb for years. And while the need can feel overwhelming, there’s something profoundly human about watching a neighbor’s shoulders relax when they realize they’re not alone.
Erie’s network of free food pantries is a lifeline woven by volunteers, donors, churches, mutual aid organizers, and everyday people who want to make sure no one falls through the cracks. These resources were originally shared by the Erie Mutual Aid Network, a public Facebook group. There is also a Little Free Pantry Facebook Group in Erie that has around 6,000 active members. This list, taken from the Mutual Aid Network, was last updated Aug. 1, 2025. If you are aware of any additional resources that should be included on this list, please contact me directly, and I’ll be happy to update it.
