The Erie Zoo is gearing up for the 2026 season starting on March 1.

Before the new season begins, here is some helpful information to know ahead of time.

What are the Erie Zoo hours?

From March 1 to Nov. 30, the Erie Zoo at 423 W. 38th St. is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The last admission takes place at 4:15 p.m.

The zoo’s office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. while closed from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. for lunch. The office is closed on all major holidays from Dec. 25 to Jan. 2.

What are the admission rates to the Erie Zoo?

Admission to the zoo for anyone 13 and up costs $12. Children ages 2 to 12 are $8 and seniors ages 62 and up are $10. Any child under the age of 23 months gets in for free.

What are the membership rates at the Erie Zoo?

Does the zoo offer discounts?

The Erie Zoo offers $1 off per adult for military discount.

General admission is free every Sunday in the season from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. with last entry at 4:15 p.m.

Group discounts are available for schools, churches, scout groups, large families and camps.

The Erie Zoo participates in Enjoy the City coupons which offers one free child admission with a purchase of an adult admission (must have coupon present).

How long does it take to walk through the Erie Zoo?

According to the Erie Zoo’s website, a comfortable walk through the zoo and the Botanical Gardens will take about two hours.

The website states that the zoo has nearly 300 animals and 11 gardens throughout the park.

Is the Erie Zoo wheelchair accessible?

The Erie Zoo provides a wheelchair accessible route and wheelchair rentals based on availability. Wheelchairs can be reserved at the Erie Zoo’s main office ahead of the visit. Call 814-864-4091.

How much does it cost to ride the train and carousel?

To ride the Safariland train it will cost $5 per non-member and $4 per member. The train is located near the entrance of the zoo next to the gift shop.

Every rider age 2 and up is required to have a ticket to ride the train.

The carousel is located in the children’s adventure section of the zoo and costs $5 per non-member and $4 per member. The carousel is weather permitting and requires a ticket for all ages for anyone sitting.

Adults may stand next to and accompany a paying child or infant free of charge. The carousel is handicap and wheelchair accessible.

Tickets for the carousel can be purchased online, at the front gate or in the carousel building.
