State police announced Cavalcante’s capture on social media around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, as the search entered its 14th day. A news conference announcing details is planned for 9:30 a.m.

Danelo Cavalcante escaped from Chester County Prison nearly two weeks ago. Authorities believe he is armed and likely still in South Coventry Township.

According to state police, escaped murderer Danelo Cavalcante was spotted overnight Sunday, about 13 miles from where he was last seen in Chester County.

The guard, an 18-year-veteran of Chester County Prison, was on duty when Cavalcante scaled a wall by crab-walking up it, climbed over razor wire, and jumped from a roof.

Bodycam footage showed Mark Dial firing his weapon through the driver’s side window of Irizarry’s sedan about seven seconds after getting out of a police SUV and striding over to the car.

Cavalcante has been spotted at least six times since escaping from Chester County Prison last week, and authorities continue to move and expand their search perimeter — now a vast area filled with forests and thick brush — while residents remain on edge.

Danelo Cavalcante was spotted Monday night at Longwood Gardens, where surveillance video captured him walking through the area with a duffel bag, backpack and hooded sweatshirt.
